So, when McDonalds posted about rereleasing the Halloween buckets I was in. That was a core memory that was unlocked, and that made me love Halloween. They’re different than what I remember, but after researching I found the buckets. I was nostalgic for the buckets where you put stickers on them and even in poorly decorated stickers they still looked pretty “spooky”.
On the left were the pails that I remember, and the one I had specifically was the Frankenstien one. While vastly different to what they’re selling now, McDonalds cannot take away my memories.
This season though, it’s weird to see what truly was being sold this year. I got it on Saturday after a spooky trip to the zoo, and maybe it was my GPS taking us to Timbuktu, but McDonalds sounded really….really good. We all god the “McBoo” bucket, so no variety but with the time we took from McDonalds back to SNC there still is a lot to be said.
The old versus the “new”
So, the food…or the bucket. Should’ve went to the McDonalds near SNC because our food was cold when we got back. That could’ve been avoided if McDonalds had the lids and not the stickers trying to keep our food warm but even if people didn’t use the lids they served a purpose. They were more of an insulator and the sticker pack that came with the kids meal was curling up. The stickers were enjoyable to the simple minded children but to an adult like me, they were….enjoyable. I mean not enough space if you didn’t want your stickers to cover the text but I got to make one skeleton’s costume a helm…and one a pirate. I saved the ghost sticker because it looked cool but there wasn’t much to the activity. I know for me personally, I had more fun putting stickers on the bucket. Also that plastic thing on the handle that was suppose to replicate the pumpkin design really was getting in the way. I know if I was a child, I would be careful with how I put candy into the basket. I even tried putting candy in said basket and it looked cool but there was a lack of space.
Overall, I was not disappointed but not satisficed. I made a yak about my experience and someone told me to rate it from “S to F” and honestly, it was a low B, high C. I could’ve went to Culvers and gotten the pumpkin pie concrete mixers. I could’ve gotten an adult happy meal. All of these are could’ves but the biggest could’ve is that McDonalds could’ve done better.
