On July 19th, Glass Animals released their long awaited space album ILYSFM. But, similar to twenty one pilots Glass Animals did listening parties and live shows. Only difference is, Glass Animals has been teasing their new songs in short stories the week before the album drops and has played their new songs in their mini live shows (except for a few). The space album has been teased since March and with every release and reference made to it, there’s excitement surrounded in it.
Listening Parties
Glass Animals announced July 1st that around the U.S. listening parties, with free merch. But, I had work but I am lucky enough that the Glass Animals discord has their own listening party thanks to their relations with the band. While they’re doing a giveaways there’s no guarantee of free merch but the added benefit is that there’s no background noise (unlike when it came to the twenty one pilots listening party) and nobody is talking.
July 19th

On the night before they were going to play a song during Jimmy Fallon but due to the media before the show it was delayed, and honestly I couldn’t justify staying up past midnight to hear one song when at 11 I would get to hear the whole album. But, at 11 o’clock on July 18th I laid in my room in the dark with only my glowing star lights and I listened to the album.
The album was alright at first, it took me a good listen to really like the album and the songs on the album. My favorite at the beginning was ‘Wonderful Nothing’ but soon was ‘How I Learned to Love the Bomb’. I grew to liking the album more and more and then without notice it just was an album I listened to on my way to work, doing random tasks and whenever I wanted to listen to it.
ILYSFM

The album itself was about love, and the relationships lead singer, Dave Bayley had and his feelings about them. The titles are full of sci-fi theme references and while the style isn’t the “same” as previous Glass Animals songs it’s still a unique song.
A few days later, Glass Animals sold some of their samples of the songs for $9. It also included the full songs and their instrumentals. It took some winRAR to be able to fully access the music because of how Bayley saved it but after some troubleshooting I have the samples. This is similar to what they did for Dreamland, except for Dreamland it was only a few samples. Next, it’s time for the Tour of Earth which for them starts in a few days, but for me I get to see it soon.
