So, as we reach December we get our replay from, anything and everything. From music to streams and everything in between there are replays. I have gotten ones for music, video games, webcomics and even snaps? It’s all fun and games until we realize something. This is just our data being tracked, but put in a fun little spin. I am not complaining though, I do find the little rewinds entertaining.

Music Replays

Now the biggest one is Spotify Wrapped but I don’t use Spotify often enough so I got an Apple Music Replay. Anyway, the replay tells us how long we listened to music, our most listened to artists/songs and then Spotify goes to say what percentage of listeners are we (top x%) and then get a lil video from the artist being like “Thanks for listening” and you feel nice and special. It’s nice to get a little message from a favorite artist but it’s so weird to see this is what our data is being used. Some have called it out, but it’s also just too fun not to be mad. Sure, companies use our data but like, fun lil graphics.

My Apple Music Replay

My Apple Music Replay is nothing surprising. The top artist for 2023 was……twenty one pilots. Wow, surprising. I listened to them for about 14,000 minutes (sadly could’ve been more) but it was also a year of a lot of achievements. I am excited though to see what 2024 brings, even if it is gathering my data. If anyone saw it, it’s nothing new. I will have to admit the amount of variety where no two artists got the top __ is nice and refreshing. I know last year my Apple Music Replay had a lot of repeats.

I will say that Spotify’s is more colorful but this feels more personalized to get it a mix of my albums. Like, the mix of gray from the twenty one pilots band member color scheme, red from Mercury Acts I and II and the cool gray/blue from The Dumb Song. I don’t mind Spotify’s thing it’s just always so bright and it just hurts my eye. But, no matter what your replay/wrapped is people are gonna judge you for it whether it’s the bands/songs you listen to or just…that you’re partaking in this.
