On May 18th, twenty one pilots had listening parties all over the U.S. the day after the initial release of their album Clancy. Throughout the week, other places would have their own listening parties which the
band hoped would stop the leaks that normally occurred before their albums release. I went to one of those listening parties because I was ecstatic for the album and Loisbearer was very tempting.
The Live Stream

On May 23rd, at 11:00 CST twenty one pilots had a late night stream to give a brief overview of every music video (on Clancy. They did start with the 4 videos they released previously in order before they very subtly discussed about the leaks in Clancy and how none of us listened to the leaked version.
Of course, in twenty one pilots fashion shenanigans ensued. The running gag was that after every video, Josh would have a different late night snack. From lunchables, to cheez-its to even mountain dew there was no shortage of fun. Even the common audio issues were a part of this wonderful stream. But, Tyler got to share with us a little bit of information about the baritone ukulele (he also is slowly becoming the uke guy).
The Music Videos

Back in March, Tyler tweeted that he didnt like official audio tracks so for Clancy, the final album of this story that’s been going on for 9 years there would be 14 music videos, one for every song except for one song that had 2 videos. They would range in quality and boy, did they vary in quality. From Joseph’s love song to his wife being home movies to lore based music videos with high production the videos were all enjoyable in their own way with fun little tidbits. Of course, Paladin Strait was said to release with them, but got delated to…Early June.

The Songs
I listened to the songs at the listening party in Waupaca but due to traffic (picture on the right to get a feel for our setting) it wasn’t easy to listen to the full album. It left some surprise for May 23rd and there definitely was a surprise when I got to hear the music perfectly, and with the music videos. My thoughts did change from the week I heard the music, my favorite initially being Routines in the Night from the listening party and then changing to Lavish the day of the release. But, this is another album that I like most of the music (Snapback is that exception, I don’t dislike it but I don’t like it).
What’s Next?

This is the end of the story from 2015, nine years basically over. The band released for a few days, the Clancy digital remains. It was one, a few hidden clues to unlock the Paladin Strait music video which we were suppose to get early June (but…June 21st was a bit late) and the .mp4 of the songs from Clancy, with a few live versions. It also gives some decisions for the songs of Clancy; scrapped lyrics and song names and various photos that can be promo photos.
It was also tweeted by Tyler Joseph that the concerts would be a flashback, before the events of Paladin Strait to remind everyone what they fought for. It is definitely an end of an era, but it’s going to be a fun end of the era. Yet, with the ending of the Paladin Strait music video, people still think there’s something more.
