A week ago by when I posted this, it will have been one week since I saw twenty one pilots in concert in their hometown of Columbus, Ohio. I honestly miss it, like every concert but this was the final show I’d be seeing in 2024. The hometown show was a unique experience compared to the other shows on this tour and I’ll be talking about my experience. This is my third twenty one pilots concert, the second one being the Icy Tour right before my freshman year. So let’s dig into the Clancy World Tour.
Balu Brigada & Before the Show

My father accompanied me to Columbus (or vise versa because he drove us) and we got there very early. Columbus was ready for twenty one pilots, and before the show I got to see a few places where they shot their music videos. I went to Big Fun where Choker was filmed, and then I went to Lavash (amazing food btw, best food ever) where a part of Lavish was shot. Plus, got to understand what 270 meant for At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb. But that was only the small details, after I bought my merch I engaged in bracelet trading while we waited for the doors to open and unlike for Glass Animals in which I got interesting gifts I traded every bracelet (and gave away two to a couple and my dad got a free one). The amount of people who had a lot of bracelets was astonishing like it made my 14 bracelets look like nothing. But, I worse them all (except for feeling gourmet) on my wrists for the concert.
The Concert

Months leading up to the concert my dad and I speculated what’s the opener and we both came to an agreement- Overcompensate. It was perfect, also the opener for the album so….it had to be. And of course, we were right. But it also played out how we both thought with Tyler jumping into the scene from the old trusty piano. The seats we got (thanks Mom) were perfect for the view, and this was one of the first shots. Later, with the piano we got to sit down (because Tyler told us to) for Mulberry street. And this is the second show in which I was attending along with his parents.

But, for the Hometown show we got some exclusive songs that I haven’t heard live: Hometown (for obvious reasons), we also got Oldies Station plus Slowtown. This is a big issue in what song got to be played so I’m glad we got both and I’m not sure if it got resolved but to have both was amazing! We also got Cut my Lip during The Judge, Fall Away (not exclusive I’m just amazed by hearing it).
But one of my favorite things that happened at the concert was the visuals. Every time I go I am always amazed by the visuals they chose, Lavish specifically they stayed true to the music video. Midwest Indigo was so reminiscent of a winter in Wisconsin (or the midwest in general) and it felt like a January instead of October. Oldies Station had our work, the fan’s work because it was our song. My Blood had skulls and vultures, they also had the DEMA towers as the torchbearer led Tyler to them. Even Trees was different this time around because it had the vultures watching us while the show ended, it was so eerie but so cool.
The Specialness of the Show

I do miss the concert and the people I met during that time were amazing. But The Clancy World Tour is to remind us what we are fighting for- and they did. The concerts took place before the events of Paladin Strait lore wise as our reminder (even though Paladin Strait was added as a part of the set list).
It makes me wonder what will happen next, that with the new story that will be happening obviously we’ll still get the old songs at concerts but what is next? That of course, is The Line.
