On August 20th I got to travel to Canada to see Glass Animals before I went back to school. While I did other things in Canada, I finally got to see Glass Animals in person. I became a fan a little bit after they stopped touring for their last album Dreamland and I’m super happy (albeit still<\/em> experiencing that post concert depression) that I got to see them with their space album ILYSFM. This is about their tour associated with the album, but I did make a post on my thoughts of the album here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Months before Glass Animals I wanted to join in the trend that other people had been experiencing, the bracelets. I made 19 bracelets and by the end of the night I had 2 left, one on my wrist and one on my moms. But, I also got 3 bracelets, 3 paper cranes and some confetti. My mom and I got there an hour before the “doors” opened (we went to an amphitheater so it was gates instead of doors). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I did buy some merch, but the saddest part was that they did not sell the pins at the show which I was hoping to acquire. We (Toronto) did not have a Meatball to find or a golden ticket which was disappointing but “C’est la vie”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While giving out bracelets I made a lot of “friends” or at least talked to people, and it was really enjoyable. I appreciated meeting people who had the same interest and it feels accepting to see people love music as much as I do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show was different: 90 (almost) straight minutes of Dave Bayley singing, and it was magical. He hit the high notes on A Tear in Space (Airlock)<\/em> that I thought was to be autotune. He did his silly little dances, toyed with the audience’s hearts and he also fakes us out on Pork Soda<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n

We also had our own Lost in the Ocean<\/em> schenangian where during that song we held up colorful paper and waved it back and forth to give Dave a colorful ocean to sing into, or a colorful night sky. He appreciated it and wondered how we did it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite part was for Heat Waves<\/em> when Drew sang the normally “deep” parts of “Sometimes all I think about is you…” and it paired well with Dave’s vocals. Even Tokyo Drifting<\/em>, probably my least favorite Glass Animals song. But, after the concert I have a more profound appreciation for this song. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
